Its largest cities, in descending order, are the capital Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Karaj, Shiraz, and Tabriz.

From the most hospitable people to the oldest history, stunning architecture, the most desolate deserts, green mountains, islands, and many other things, slowly, travelers are realizing that Iran is the ultimate destination.

GETTING AN IRAN VISA (TRAVELLING IN IRAN)

Visa on arrival (VOA) for Iran

Everybody, except for citizens of Canada, UK, US, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Colombia, Iraq, Jordan, Nepal, Pakistan, Somalia and Sri Lanka, can get a visa on arrival at any of Iran’s international airports. The only real requirement is to have a valid host contact. During the process of getting your VOA, the authorities may contact your host, whether they are a hotel or a friend. Prices range from 40€ to 150€, depending on nationality. If you travel to Iran by land, you will need to arrange your visa in advance. If you don’t want to wait at the airport, want to secure your visa or enter overland, you should get the visa in advance. For this, you need to get an authorization code from an authorized company, which you will use to easily collect your visa at the airport or embassy (if you enter by land). A one-month visa is the standard number of days they give for traveling in Iran. You can extend it twice for 30 days. This means that you can be in Iran for up to 90 days. Extensions can be arranged in all provincial capitals.

Where can you pick up an Iran VOA

Not possible if you want to cross the border on land.You can only pick up the VOA at the following airports.

Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application form, is for temporary travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran alongside of VOA. The Application is submitted electronically to Evisa Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs website via the Internet. Consular Officers use the information entered on the application to process the visa application and, may be combined with a personal interview, determine an applicant’s eligibility for a nonimmigrant visa.

Visa applicants must submit a completed Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application for all nonimmigrant visa categories, including applicants applying for Entry, Tourist, Work, Treatment, Press, Student, Family, and Investment visas. To enter Iran, you must have travel insurance for the period of your stay there.

This is literally the only website where you can find a wide variety of hotels and you can even book from the comfort of your home in your home country. Booking.com is not working in Iran at all due to sanctions.

Hostelworld

HostelWorld is the only international website where you can book using your international credit card .Moreover, there are more and more hotels and even homes appearing on HostelWorld. On a side note, in Iran, you can most probably get a room in a cheap hotel for less than you pay for a hostel bed.

 

IRANIAN DEBIT CARD FOR FOREIGN TRAVELERS (TRAVELLING IN IRAN)

In Iran, you cannot use any international bank card due to US sanctions. It means that if you don’t want to carry too much cash around, you might want to apply for an Iranian debit card.
